Course Overview

Earn continuing education hours needed to renew your registration, and review the appropriate application of backflow prevention methods, devices, and assemblies. You will also receive information on the latest backflow test procedures and plumbing code requirements related to cross-connection control and backflow prevention.

In this course you will learn:

  • Backflow prevention devices, assemblies, applications, and selection
  • Test procedures for 4 assemblies, RPZ, double check, spill-resistant vacuum breaker and pressure vacuum breaker assemblies.
  • Single-hose test procedure for assemblies.
  • Safety review for cross-connection testers.
  • Wisconsin rules and codes.
  • Troubleshooting.

Who Should Attend?

Practical training for plumbers, sprinkler fitters, facility maintenance personnel, and utility workers focusing on procedures for cross-connection control, backflow prevention, and testing of backflow prevention assemblies.

Additional Information

Successful completion of this course fulfills the requirements in Wisconsin for the cross connection control tester registration hours.

Additionally, 6 continuing education hours are credited towards master plumber, journeyman plumber, and commercial plumbing inspector credential holders.

Cross Connection Control Program Director

Chuck is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with over 20 years in the plumbing industry and over 8 years of teaching experience. He has taught cross connection control tester certification courses for over 7 years. After completion of his registered apprenticeship Chuck received his Journey workers license. Chuck holds a master plumbers license, cross connection control tester certification, cross connection control surveyor certification, and an associate’s degree in Technical Studies. Throughout his career, Chuck has worked with students from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop a strong knowledge base in plumbing and cross connection control this has given the student critical thinking skills that allow them to excel in their craft.

Chuck’s passion for cross connection and storytelling drives his approach to teaching. He believes in creating an engaging, student-centered classroom where every student feels valued and supported. His teaching philosophy centers around fostering a love for cross connection control, encouraging independent critical thinking about the subject, and developing the skills necessary for maintaining public health.

When Chuck is not teaching, you can find him outdoors, sipping coffee, or enjoying time with his family. He’s also a big fan of travel and always planning the next adventure to learn about new cultures and ideas.
