Course Overview

The ASSE Cross-Connection Control Repairer Certification Course prepares individuals to diagnose, repair, and maintain backflow prevention assemblies in accordance with ASSE Series 5000, Standard 5130 and local regulatory requirements. Building upon the foundational knowledge of the ASSE 5110 Cross-Connection Control Tester certification, this advanced course focuses on the internal operation, repair, and overhaul of backflow prevention assemblies used to protect potable water systems.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Correctly diagnose issues and perform repairs on all types of backflow prevention assemblies
  • Restore assemblies to proper working condition in compliance with ASSE 5130 standards
  • Accurately document repair work and test results
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of assembly function and component operation

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for certified backflow prevention assembly testers, plumbers, water system personnel, and maintenance technicians who wish to obtain ASSE 5130 Cross-Connection Control Repairer Certification or expand their technical expertise in backflow prevention system maintenance.

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold a current ASSE 5110 Cross-Connection Control Tester Certification or equivalent and have practical field experience in testing and maintaining backflow assemblies.

Certification:

Students who successfully complete the course and pass both written and practical examinations will earn the ASSE 5130 Cross-Connection Control Repairer Certification, recognized nationally for the repair and maintenance of backflow prevention assemblies.

Course Length:

24 hours, including classroom instruction and hands-on repair lab sessions.

Cross Connection Control Program Director

Chuck is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with over 20 years in the plumbing industry and over 8 years of teaching experience. He has taught cross connection control tester certification courses for over 7 years. After completion of his registered apprenticeship Chuck received his Journey workers license. Chuck holds a master plumbers license, cross connection control tester certification, cross connection control surveyor certification, and an associate’s degree in Technical Studies. Throughout his career, Chuck has worked with students from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop a strong knowledge base in plumbing and cross connection control this has given the student critical thinking skills that allow them to excel in their craft.

Chuck’s passion for cross connection and storytelling drives his approach to teaching. He believes in creating an engaging, student-centered classroom where every student feels valued and supported. His teaching philosophy centers around fostering a love for cross connection control, encouraging independent critical thinking about the subject, and developing the skills necessary for maintaining public health.

When Chuck is not teaching, you can find him outdoors, sipping coffee, or enjoying time with his family. He’s also a big fan of travel and always planning the next adventure to learn about new cultures and ideas.
